Metal complexes of nitroimidazole derivatives: a review

Metal complexes of different chemical compounds are important part of both medical and pharmaceutical practice. Over the past few years, subjects of great interest are the coordination metal complexes of nitro imidazole derivatives with different metal ions. Here we describe parts of scientific researches that are mentioned in the literature covering the topic. New complex compounds with Pd, Pt, Cu are presented and so is the synthesis of complex of Tc with metronidazole xanthate. Their possible application in the treatment of fibro sarcoma, infections of Gram positive and Gram negative organisms, amoebiasis and other is covered in the scientifical papers. The results are showing that the metal compounds are, by a huge margin, more active than the ligands. They might be put in the treatment of socially meaningful diseases of different kinds.
