Subject

Microcrystalline Cu60Ag30Al10 alloy was synthesized by rapid solidification technique. The as-spun Cu-based ribbon was dealloyed using the method of selective electrochemical dissolution of the less noble element in 0.1 M HClO4 water solution at a potential of 350 mV vs. SHE at room temperature. As a result, 3-dimensional porous structure with ligament size in the range between 100 nm and 200 nm, and pore and channel size between 100 nm to 2000 nm was obtained after 120 min under potentiostatic conditions. The dealloyed ribbon was used as a scaffold for sulfur deposition with potential application in catalysis and as an additive-free electrode for Li+/Na+-ion batteries. For the characterization of the microstructure and morphology of the samples before and after dealloying, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron microscopy (SEM, HRTEM, EDX) methods were used.
