Subject

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) take important part of modern nanotechnology. They are involved in many fields of research– catalysis, microbiology, electronics, environmental protection due to their stability and unique physical and optical properties. This leads to necessity of developing new and cost effective methods for Ag NPs synthesis if they are to be applied in large scale. In this study we present an amine mediated method for synthesis of silver nanoparticles at low temperature. We have studied the effect of three amines – monoethanolamine (MEA), triethanolamine (TEA) and ethylenediamine (EN), on the process of formation of Ag NPs and the size and morphology of the obtained nanoparticles. The results from this study will be implemented in the preparation of hybrid nanocomposite materials for environmental protection.
