Subject

The “Counterfeit drugs” problem is one of the most serious challenges facing modern regulatory science and practice. In recent years, there has been an alarming increase in market penetration in the EU and globally of so-called "counterfeit medicines". These products usually contain substandard (inferior quality) or counterfeit ingredients, or contain no relevant ingredients, or contain ingredients or active ingredients that are incorrectly or mistakenly dosed. In the poster we outline the main directions outlined by the WHO, the EU and the Bulgarian scientific and practical experience. In particular, counterfeit medicines are one of the most significant threats to human health and their entry into the market can lead to a loss of citizens' trust, both in drug delivery systems and in the public health system as a whole. In conclusion, we believe that societies, international communities, the entire political and socio-economic resource under the correct, unconditional application of established control regulations can successfully fight against "counterfeit" medicinal products to ensure the presence of the local and global market quality, efficient and, above all, safe medicines.
