Subject

Introduction: The mission of European Association Of Faculties Of Pharmacy (EAFP) is to lead advancement of pharmacy education and research to reflect developments in pharmacy and the needs of society. This is achieved by facilitating contacts and collaboration between University-level schools of pharmacy. In Europe the EU directive 2005/36/ЕО aims to align education with practice and ensure that education across EU is harmonized. Higher education in the specialty "Pharmacy" for the educational qualification degree "master" is acquired in a faculty of a Higher Education Institution, which received accreditation in accordance with the Law on Higher Education. Aim: The purpose is to compare pharmacy education in Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University "Saint Kliment Ohridski", Sofia, Bulgaria with the education in Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic (the first university, founded in Central Europe). Materials and methods: A comparative analysis was used, which included several categories: study base, university admission, duration of study, study program (syllabus), focusing on the subject of Social Pharmacy. Results: There are no significant differences in the categories listed above. The differences come from the conditioning of the Pharmacy at the national level, taking into account the recommendations of the national competent authorities. Discussion: The general goal of Social Pharmacy education should not differ in individual EU member states. The acquired knowledge and skills during the 5-year training course guarantee the competence of the Master of Sciences of Pharmacy (MPharm).
